KCID

The International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage(ICID) is the leading Non-Governmental Organization established in 1950. Headquartered in New Delhi, ICID facilitates sharing of experience and transfer of water management technology with leading professionals from over 100 countries.

  • ICID is collaborating with UNDP, IBRD, WMO and other 20 international organizations to mainly deal with water management, agriculture, environment and shortage issues.
  • ICID aims at promoting research development and international exchange on irrigation, drainage, flood management and sustainable development.

Objectives

  • To promote development and application of water management, ecological agriculture and environmental preservation.
  • To promote development and application of sciences in managing water and land resources to contribute to the stability of global food supply.

Main Activites Assorted

  • September 2014: KCID successfully hosted the 22nd ICID Congress and 65th IEC Meeting held in Gwangju, Korea
  • October 2012:Prof. Kim Tai-cheol, a member of KCID, was elected as the Vice President of ICID at the 21st international Congress on Irrigation ans Drainage in Tehran, Iran
  • December 2009: Determined to host 'The 2014 ICID Congress in Gwangju, Korea' at the 5th Asian Regional Conference in New Delhi, India.
  • July 2002: KCID was awarded for the 'Best Performing ICID National Committee' at the 18th ICID Congress in Montreal, Canada.
  • September 2001: KCID successfully hosted the 1st Asian Regional Conference in Seoul and endorsed the Seoul Declaration.

Seoul Declaration Empahasized the importance of Agriculture, Water Environment and the multi-functions of rice farming.
